Tonights feature night is by Ultradog,,he wants to know what is your favorite handgun, shotgun and rifle. I have a jc higgins 410 I am fond of....whats your favorite,,Ultradog would like to hear about it!

Guns? I don't keep them in my house

Seriously, my ranch gun is a Remington pump .22 that I've had for almost 50 years Next would be a Stevens 20 ga that I've had more than 50 years, I got it for Christmas when I was 9 years old.

I have many Stevens/Savage .22/.410 combo guns, so that takes care of my rifle and shotgun preference. As for handguns, I love my Old Model Ruger Super Bearcats.

That's like asking me what my favorite wrench is. Depends what I'm wrenching! So here's a short list: .240 Weatherby Mark IV, H&R Handi rifle .223 Cal., Ruger 10/22, 9mm handguns. Had a lot of fun with msny others, but list is long and I really don't want to tip my hand. These were my favorite. Have been playing eith pellet guns lately. Lots of cheap fun.

I agree; 'Depends on what I'm wrenching'. An easy question for me is which is the most valuable (expensive). That would be my FP-45 (OSS Liberator). Shot it only once. Too painful and has a limited lifetime to boot. $1.25 when they were made in 1942.

I like them all, don't really have favorite, so I'll go with most used.

Have a Rugar 22 single six revolver 9in barrel. that gets used the most(hogs, caged varmint...). For long guns would be the Mossberg 20g shot gun. My pa once unloaded the shot gun twice(full chamber both times) one day and got I think was 10 or so young skunks(and maybe one older) when they crawled out from the den that was under the greenhouse, that made a stink for a couple days.

I have a JC Higgins 410 bolt was my first gun given to me by my grandfather, favorite gun of all time Ithaca model 37 in any configuration use deerslayer's for deer hunting and shot for everything else. Favorite shot ever is watching my 10 year old daughter kill her first deer second day of bow season last year. Crossbow at 25 yards.

Model 33 Remington 22 single shot with hand cock bolt. Had it for 60 plus years. My grandson will inherit it. Straightest shooting 22 I have ever shot. 1933 Sears catalog sold them for $4.95

Shotguns My Remington 1100 Competition Synthetic 12 gauge 30" barrel. Rifles Swedish Mauser in 6.5 x 55 that I built up a few years ago. Pistols any one that I have handy when I need one! Of the 20 or so shotguns that I own the last one I bought is quickly becoming my favorite cheap Tristar Viper Semi auto 12 gauge 30" barrel paid less the $600 for it new. It's light handles great and I can put it in my left hand and hand throw four clays with my right and hit all four 8 times out of 10 with it. I can't do that with any other shotgun I own.

30-06 or a 270 in tractors or combine,357 taurus in trucks and 9mm in back pocket, wife carries 9mm all the time and a 38 in her pick-up truck

A certain model of springfield in a semi auto, its been the go to rifle for about as long as I've had it.

When I was a kid, dads .22 revolver was took care of most needs around the farm, along with the mossberg 151k for longer shots in the pastures.

The laws in this state and the current state of affairs, I've lost interest, they're just tools for specific tasks, and ones I was fond of you can't talk about anymore.

My great uncle had one of those and I got to shot it one time and you're right I didn't want to shot it again. He had a big gun collection and was one heck of a gunsmith and I will always remember it hanging on a nail over his workbench in his gun room. I don't know what happen to after he passed away but I bet his sons had no idea what it was worth!

Western Field 410 bolt my Dad bought for me when I was twelve.Years later he told me he paid fifteen dollars for it. Prized possession.

Icatha model 37 pump. Throws spent casing out the bottom. Favorite handgun is my Colt Trooper III with the nickel finish in.357 mag.. rifle is. Ruger 10/22. (The nice one~ not a cheap, generic "Wal-Mart" model.)

Rugar SR 22 semi-auto pistol. High quallity , light, small , easy take down , flawless workings. Relatively low cost and very accurate for short pistol. Does everything I need a pistol to do and well.

16" AR15 with quality Red Dot or perhaps low magnification scope (~4x), maximum versatility, fun to shoot, lightweight and drop-dead reliable, all in a highly ergonomic package that can perform in everything from small-medium game hunting to serving a guy in the upcoming possible unraveling of society. Ammo's cheapish ($.30-.35 cpr approximately), parts are everywhere, what's not to love?!?

Pistol - anything double stack in 9MM from a reputable manufacturer, great capacity, excellent man-stopping capabilities (especially with modern jacketed hollow points), reliable, and cheap to practice with. Striker fired (glock), or double-action single action, whatever doesn't really matter much except in shooters preference. Ideally a smaller double stack (Glock 26 for instance) that can serve as a side arm to the rifle and also be concealed easily in other situations.

Shotgun- Mossberg 500 in 12 gauge, better than the super low quality, poor QC new production 870's, its lightweight, insanely reliable, has a decent capacity and just plain and simple works well. Super versatile firearm for the price (~$200 used, $220-$500 new depending on the exact model and specs).

Theres some cool stuff posted in this thread, but I had to add a younger-generation perspective to it :p

I have an old Winchester model 67 just like that one still shoots great. got mine for Christmas about 60 years ago I was 7 years old shoot a lot of gophers and rabbits with that gun. Randy

The ones that get used the most are my Thompson-Center Contender rifle in .17 Remington Fireball (woodchuck gun) and my Browning Hi-Power in 9mm.

The one that's by far the most fun to shoot is the M14.

Marlin model 80 bolt action 22lr probably gets the most use, belonged to my Grandpa, still accurate.

My Dad's Winchester lever action 22...still remember when he sweet talked Mom out of her trading stamps to get it. Took a lot of groundhogs when I was a kid with that rifle, and it still shoots good too.

Marlin 1894 in 44 mag I picked up when they opened up the deer season to some rifles....sooo daggone light and accurate compared to the shotguns I was using.

Fred

My go to gun is an old CZ side lock ejector 12 gauge. It's choked full and fuller, and I've taken everything from squirrels to deer with it. It's been a good gun for me. I have an over under ejector gun for bird hunting, and it's a fine gun too. My rifle is dad's Remington 30-06. It's shot more deer than you could load on the old Loadstar! It's accurate as heck. Had 'em all a long time, and money won't buy 'em.

Mac

My favorite rifle is my chuck gun- a Ruger 77 in .22 Hornet. I've taken 43 groundhogs in the past three weeks with it. My favorite shotguns are my Browning Citori Feather, and my Beretta AL390. I have two favorite pistols- a Ruger .357 Police Servie Six, and a Beretta 92F auto in 9MM. I have a whole pot full of armor, hard to single out a few.......

The one I carried for years Smith & Wesson 39-2. But it is now retired, and I only bring it out for a walk down memory lane. Go to everyday carry is a Tokarev price was right and I like the 7.62x25 round.

The 500 is a plain ole fun shotgun, was always a great value for what they cost.
Friend had one, took apart the trigger assembly, never could get it back together. Ended up on my workbench eventually and I was able to get the one or 2 missing parts, put it back together and it worked flawlessly He used it seasonally use for several years, then I think one of his folks got him a high end shotgun that worked out well, they're regular fall bird hunters. So, he dropped off the 500 one day. That one joins mine, which is a plain jane inexpensive gun show find from way back when. I guess they are versatile with the modern versions. For the longest time they were mostly just gun blue, black walnut stock'd general purpose reliable as heck shot guns that were readily available. I'd like to think a shorter version is also not bad choice if one needs something per say around the premises. I haven't been in years but the ole 500 always got me a goose when I had the chance to set up for those in season.

Probably the ones I have used the most. MY Winchester 69a that I bought used for $12.50 in 1955. Shot lots of groundhogs and rabbits with it. My High Standard Citation military served me well in many matches over a lot of years. Probably has had 40,000 rounds thru it with minimal wear, still has a great trigger pull and accuracy. Shotgun wise my old Remington 870TB was my favorite on the trap field. Maybe has had 12,000 to 15,000 rounds thru it. Have others, but these have seen the most use.

As far as shotgun it's my Remington 1100 12 gauge with a full trap barrel, its a beautiful gun so it's just for trap and not hunting. For hunting it's my old Winchester 1300.
For rifle it's my Marlin gold trigger
30-30 and this year it's legal for deer season. Others on my list are my rock river AR in .458 socom and my .10-22 Ruger.
For pistol it's my Taurus judge in .410 3 inch or .45 long colt. Honorable mention goes to my 1911 .45 and single six .22.
Picking a favorite gun is as hard as a favorite tractor!

I got a 94 in .22 mag. My dad bought it in the 70's and has only had 100 rounds shot thru it.

I learned to shoot on grandpa's ruger 10/22, so that holds a special place. Also used dad's 870 and Enfield 30-06 (rebarreled) . I like my ruger mark III since it seems more forgiving for my flinching lol. I've shot a s&w 686 in the 357 and really love that gun, heavy like a real gun should be and crisp trigger. After that the 1911 made by Kimber really impressed me.
I guess i kinda prefer the old stuff with the understanding that my friends newer stuff fills a niche also.

Remington 700 BDL 22-250, RUGER BISLEY 45 Colt. Have had the rifle for about 40 years, the revolver for about 2 years.

(quoted from post at 17:06:45 07/27/16) Too many to mention but probably marlin 39 .22 lever action.

Me too on the Marlin and - Handgun = Old model (3 screw) Ruger .357 Blackhawk - Shotgun = Mossberg 500 pump in .410 :)

Springfield mil-spec 1911A .45 pistol, AK-47, and a Mossberg 500 pump modified with an 8 round magazine, in that order.

I'm a fan of combos as well and have a Stevens 22/410 and a Savage 222/20. Don't shoot the bigger one much but the 22/410 is a fun little plinker.

Most used shotgun is an Ithaca model 37 pump, full choke 28 inch barrel in 16 guage. Marlin 336 30-30 with a 6 power scope, handiest, most economical, and effective rifle I have. It's always behind the seat and accounts for many hogs and coyotes every year. Have them nicer, bigger, and smaller, but that one is a hammer. Most used pistol is a ruger .22. It has all the bluing worn off.

If we are talking handgun I like my Ruger 357 revolver. It's a big old heavy thing. Double action. It was my go-to for everything for a long time. It's getting harder to use with my arthritis.

I use dad's Mossberg most now. He traded a guy his bicycle for it when he was 18. It's a 20 guage with a modified barrel and a two cartridge clip. It's just a fine old bolt action. The story behind it makes it special to me, too.

Old time favorites, dad's Remington model 33 single shot 22 and Iver Johnson 20ga single, granddad's Marlin 336 30-30 he got in 53, father in laws Colt Official Police 38, little brother got the Remington, I got the rest.
Go to rifles, Ruger 10-22, SKS 7.62x39, DPMS AR 223, Remington 742 Woods Master 308
Go to pistols, Ruger 22-45, Springfield Armory XD 45
Go to shot guns, Mossberg 500 12ga, Remington 870 Wing Master Magnum 12ga
Consealed, Ruger LCP 380

Well Shot gun wise it has to be sofar my old Ithaca double barrel that my grandfather gave me when i was 13 it's a 12 ga. , rifle wise it is my custom built Mauser 98 in 30-06 , go to the field gun that rides on the tractor is my mini 14 good for varmits . hand guns i have three a Ruger signle six and my Model 19 Smith in 357 with a 2 1/2 barrel and my brand new Springfield XDM in 40 cal with the 3.8 barrel . Did by a new 870 Remington a couple weeks ago but it came out of the box and into the gun case that was empty so i have not shot it yet but i could not pass it up at 249 bucks . Got it to make it my deer gun.

Winchester 72A 22 long rifle , 700 Remington 7mm Mag., Ruger 77 Hornet, A5 Browning in 20ga, pistols, Ruger BearCar 22cal, Russian 7.62 X 25
I have other toys but these are the ones that are my go to's

Shotgun...The most special one is the single shot 16 gauge my great grandfather gave to me...the one that is my favorite to use is my Benelli SBE2 12 Gauge... Rifle...Browning A-Bolt .270...deadly accurate, I trust it implicitly and it always gets the job done! .22 would be my dad's old Scoremaster Remington Bolt Action... Did a lot of plinking with that one as a kid!

Daddy, Mommy, and Baby all are Smith .500 mags. The nicest is Daddy because of the barrel length of 8-3/8's and porting it kicks straight back like a mule when fired, but stays perfectly level. Mommy at 6-1/2" and Baby at 4" are ported as well, but still have quite a bit of recoil. At the bottom is Daddy compared to my 8-1/2" Ruger Redhawk .44 mag. There is quite a bit of difference. If had to, there is a chance that the Redhawk might take down a brown bear, but I'm a lot more confident in Daddy, Mommy, or Baby as a backup.

No part of OUR Constitution doesn't matter to me. No part at all.

Not a brown bear, but still no place to be

As others have said, favorite is hard to choose. Forced to settle for one handgun, it would probably be the Springfield 1911. Shotgun: Browning 20 ga., Savage 12 or Winchester Model 25-12.

My favorite rifle is one I don't use anymore, a Winchester Model 63 semi-auto. I grew up with it. My user is a Browning, and my big rifle is a Browning 30.06 semi. My only bolt rifle is a WWII Japanese Arisaka.

With box and instruction sheet Wikipedia says worth now up to $10,000.

If I had to pic the last to part with , it would be my grandfather's Model 97 Winchester, in 12 ga. Never got ot know him as he passed before I was born. Second as far as memories would be the Sears(I think) .22 single shot my father wrestled from a guy trying to rob him. Called the cops, they took the gun and told dad "if they did not find the robber he could claim the rifle after one year." Well he got it a year later, just a $25 gun but has a story that could have turned out very different.
What I want in my hand late at night when someone knocks at the door, Ruger .357 Security-six.

Mine will be 12 gauge Remington auto im. cyl. I bought it in the PX A few days before
I got out of the Army in Ft. Chaffee Ar. Dec. 1953. l love that gun over all the rest.

Hammer Man

Colt M1911 all the way.
Thin, solid and reliable.
I'll never forget the first time I got to target shoot with one and from that point on no other pistol does it for me.

My favorite to shoot is my Kimber .45. But the one that means the most to me is the luger. Dad picked it up somewhere in Normandy and carried it as his side arm across France, through the bulge and right up to just outside of Berlin where Eisenhower stopped Patton so the Russians could take Berlin. It will be my sons when I am gone.
a233127.jpg

Rifle.....Remington mod. 722 in .257 Roberts
Shotgun.....Winchester mod. 12 in 16 ga.
Pistol.....Colt Python .357
The one I use the most....Ruger 10-22, w/green lite laser

I would have to say a gun I don't even own . Firing the M16 on a 500 yard range in the USMC was by far the most fun I had shooting. I can't believe guys used to complain about going to the rifle range. To me it was a paid vacation. Anytime there was a competition to fire the 45s I would volunteer for that too.

the one that I use the most is a 10-22 ruger, bought it in 1974 for 39.95$. I have changed it a little, a 29" Green Mountain barrel and a Leopold 8.5-24 scope. It is very quite with standard velocity CCI ammo. The one that I liked the least I didn't own. A guy came to our range one day with a Remington rolling block pistol with a RCBS 100 round ammo box. One round was empty when he got there! He wanted to know if anyone wanted to shoot it. Most people who shot it quit with one round. I shot it seven times and couldn't stand one more. The ammo was reloaded to rifle specs with a 500 graine bullet! I think he had 87 rounds left! That thing was a handful!

Those old Savage 24's in .22/.410 or .223/12gauge are dandy tools. Iirc Savage has reintroduced the combo as a model 42?
