Tractor Supply gear oil

I need to get some gear oil, I have several transmissions and rear ends to do. Does anyone have an
opinion on Tractor Supply gear oil?

It's worked well but the applications are on older equipment on this farm. It has never been a problem to correctly match up the API requirements per the owner's manual.

Good chance it is OK, just make sure it has the correct GL number for the application.

GL 1-4 is for lighter duty and synchronized transmission applications, GL5 has extreme pressure additives for hypoid gears and extreme loads, but the additives in GL 5 will corrode yellow and white metal used in synchronizer rings and thrust washers.

i used it in my older stuff. I thought it was ok. Used it in other gear boxes and was ok there too.

Thanks guys, I find Jon Hagen's information about the two grades especially interesting and useful. Tom

Warren oil co. probably packages it for them. Read the specs and go from there. I have used it and works like any other oil of whatever type I have purchased. Catching a sale help on their prices.
