bees moved but still baffled

Thermometer said 92 when I started and 103 when done. Got the hive straightened and split; moved split. I still can't figure how this started. The stand was intact and upright with only the bottom board in place. Immediately beside it was an inverted stack with top cover on the ground and 2 mediums upside down. Immediately beside that were the final 4 mediums inverted on the ground. All other hives were completely normal. Oh, well, all's well that ends well. Except the dog decided to walk through the bee yard in mid-move so it took an hour to find him later over at the neighbor's place. He got torn up years ago and I expected better behavior. Or perhaps he's self-medicating for his arthritis.

I can't see it. Each medium weighed around 30 pounds with all the honey so that stack of 4 was >100. To get them separated, I pushed them onto their sides so I could split them and not loose the frames. I was all I could do to get them onto the side. No cattle, no horses, and free running dogs in the fenced yard. Only hive disturbed. May have to blame space aliens. If the hive toppled over, I have no clue how the mediums ended up in 2 stacks w/in a foot of each other and both upside down.

We have an elderly neighbor who believes that the old chimney on his garage which fell down last winter was knocked over by a drone, so perhaps you could use the same explanation. it seems as good as any other answer.

30 or 40 years ago, we mowed the apple trees and lane with a Case VAC with a WOODS belly mower. I had cut off part of the LH rear axle so one could trim with that side, but did Nothing to the RH side. She never understood the importance of mowing with the LH side against buildings etc. As a result she caught and stretched many fences, removed the downspout from the house, and knocked over one of the bee hives.
Maybe your wife did it.
