Having to rebuild BD154 due to precombustion chamber lodging in cylinder. Took radiator to have cleaned and rodded they said it was to bad to fix. Cant find one anywhere
Has anyone had to replace one and is there a retrofit that will work

Can't you have it re cored or are the tanks shot? I just had one re cored for a White 2-105.

They can recore it for 6-700$
I was wondering if there is an alternative refit for less

They're in the ball park. I paid $675 to have that one of mine re cored, but it's larger than the one in yours.

There are companies that fabricate aluminum radiators for various
applications. If you take your dimensions, # of rows and inlet/outlet
locations to an auto parts store with a knowledgeable parts guy they
may be able to match up a radiator for a different application that
will work. Try doing a Google search for "custom aluminum radiator"
and plenty of fabricators will come up. Some of them have radiators
for cars and trucks going back to the 40's. Should be about half the
cost compared to recoring your old radiator. Make sure to use an
antifreeze that is compatible with aluminum.

Reliable aftermarket parts maybe? We have a
354 that needed a radiator, they are a bit
of an oddball. I was looking at other IH
tractor radiators to see what was about the
same size, and found that one for a 424 was
the same dimensions and had the same lower
mount. By looking at the pictures,I could
tell the only thing different was the filler
neck was shorter on a 424 than a 354. No
big deal. I bought it, it was only like
$250, and unsoldered the filler neck/cap
piece. It only needed to go up about 2
inches. I found that a 3/4-1" copper pipe
coupling/reducer was the right height, the
3/4 part fit into the top tank of the
radiator with just a little enlarging of the
hole, and the original cap/filler neck
slipped right into the 1" part of the
reducer. I soldered it all together that
way, and it looks like factory, you wouldn't
know. And the new radiator even had brass
tanks on it, not junky steel ones. Might be
and idea if you get in a hard place.
