just acquired a shaver HD-8 post driver to rehab, the polish shaft is pitted pretty bad on the last foot or so...it is 3/4 inch shaft, anyone have ideas as to where to get replacement or how I can fix this one. I haven't found just a shaft and shaver wants $540 for the whole cylinder

I'd probably use fine emery cloth or steel wool, polish it down so the rust isn't sticking up to tear up the wiper and run it.

I have an old Shaver post driver that has a badly pitted shaft, too. But,it never has leaked since I bought it used many years ago. That is not where the hydraulic sealing is at anyway. If you want it repaired/replaced,you may try a hydraulic shop that rebuilds cylinders.Mark

The cylinder seal is at the top. Those are just a rod displacement cylinder. I got a new rod from a hydraulic place for mine when I needed one. I think the rods come to them in 20 foot lengths and they just cut off what they need.
