Changing duramax battery question

After almost 9 years my duramax just grunted this morning and dash lights flicked a time or two them went out. I have never changed the batteries on a diesel truck before. Is there and order I need to go in unhooking and rehooking cables as to not screw things up? Sorry if this is a silly question

Question how old are the batteries on the truck. this might be one problem if the batteries are old they might need to be replace. In my ford F-250 diesel I replace my every five years because I live in hot weather and some times cold weather area. Might want to check up on the battery life of those batteries.

pretty much remove ground cable first, both batts. install new, put ground cables on last. they make an aux power supply that plugs in cig/phone port i think, to keep from losing programing-radio, etc.

Best luck I have had with a set of batteries are Gold brand. They were made in Mi. don't know anything else about them. 14 years and counting

Hello Paul Shuler,

Mite-help got it right! Negative first Negative last....

Gujdo.

Reason for negative first is that if your wrench is on the terminal and touches something metallic in the truck proper it won't arc weld. Once you get - off doesn't matter on + if you slip and make contact....as long as contact isn't to the - .....oops!

I am over 5 years on my 2011 Silverado and I was looking at it the other day, more to it than in the old days. Decided that I may drop 150 bucks on a replacement and if I have to do it tomorrow, that's less than 10 cents a day for a good reliable battery that has never failed me. I can live with that.

I bought my Branson 6530 new in Sept. 2007. Still using the same battery.....I think that's pushing 9 years.

I used to go through a 3 year battery right at 3 years. The longer timed batteries never made it to the end. Seems now-a-days, they are better built. Maybe the internal changes to make them sealed has contributed to that.
