OT truck turbo

Looks like I am going to need turbocharger for the International 4700 with the 7.3 engine. So far Rock Auto has the best price. NAPA is almost double the price. Any input on the quality of the rock auto turbos? That seems to be a big difference in price. Makes me question the quality of the rock auto turbo. With $14 milk I am sure not going to pay double unless the cheaper ones are really junk.

Don't remember where I got mine it's been over 10 years.I can tell you if it's like my ford was and there's not much room against the firewall, double nut(tighten two nuts against each other) 2 nuts on the studs to remove them out of the way.If not you will have a hard time removing/reinstalling it.

I bought on from the local navistar dealer about three years ago, it was about $650.

Do you know the name of the rebuilder rock auto is selling?

Had the cheapest Honda Odyssey van replacement steering pump put on our van, from AutoZone. Lasted sorta Ok until it locked up at speed on I-35 around Kansas City with my wife driving. Never again.

id find out where the cheap one was made, remember if that thing lets a blade loose, you loose an engine, and thats way more cost to fix than the most expensive turbo you can find, if the cardone is a Chinese knock off, id pass, look up holset online and see what theirs cost, with the 7.3 banks may even have one for it

Sometimes going cheap is not the most profitable. I used to buy rebuilt turbo's for my cummins and would only get about half the work out of them vs a new one for about $200 more.
