Interesting thought: What's your collection goal?

I was sitting around, thinking about an interesting topic to discuss. For all of us collectors - what is your goal for your collection? MY goal is to have a tractor from every era 1900-1909, 1910-1919, 1920-1929, 1930-1939, 1940-1949, and 1950-1959. So far I have three from the 1940's ('41 Case SC, '42 John Deere A, '47 Farmall M). I'd love to own a smaller steamer from the early era 1900-1909 (if I could ever afford one), maybe a Fordson from the teens, Farmall Regular or JD GP or D from the 20's, and a Minne Mo JT or Oliver Hart Parr 18-27 from the 30's. Maybe a Farmall Cub from the 1950's?

I thought it would be interesting to talk about - not that I want to set a LIMIT to the tractors I end up with or the quantity, but it's good to set a beginning goal. Lol!

I JUST HAVE A GOAL OF HAVING ALL MY STUFF IN RUNNING AND WORKING CONDITION .. PArdon the dum caps lok

I really don't have one. If i see something I like enough that I can afford then it goes into the collection. It's why I have tractors all the way from a 1927 JD D to a Big Bud HN 320, combines, a swather, horse drawn implements, and old literature.

I must be a sick man, I really only have a passion to own green & yellow tractors. I've owned other makes but they don't stay
for very long at my place, I don't dislike them but don't share the same passion with me as Deere's do. I have too many.
Currently all running except one, it does run but I can't use it until I replace the radiator core & I've already repaired, replaced
just about everything except the frt frame & main case on it. It is still taking up 3 times the required space in my tractor shed since
it is still in many pieces, But I have started the engine!! First time since 5/30/1985. It's that 1944 Model A that should have been
scrapped out, A tractor that went WAY OVER my Planned spending & continues to do so. I've owned for 5+ years. My Goal is to get it
running as good or better than the others I have & Be able to use it. & when I find another that's my price range my goal will change to it.

Touche 01gentdc! If I quit dragging stuff home I would have better luck finishing my collection. That, and if I could drag myself out of the bar...

Sorry, not set goals here, not really a collector, just a user. And that means whatever fits my needs. Today that includes a Farmall 1206, 2 Ford 8N's a Farmall M, Cat D4 7u and a JCB 3CIII tlb. Wanna upgrade one 8N to something newer with higher HP.

My goal is to find every CASE Watch Fob made. I am missing 6 that are shown in Hovers Watch Fob Book. I currently have 195 Case watch fobs with dozens of them not even shown in the book. Finding some of them has been quite a long slow process. But most times for me anyway the hunt is the fun part.
PS. If anybody has any my email is open. Gerald

My goal is a complete line of case equipment and a small farm to farm with it. Have most of it now altho a lot needs restoring. I would like to be able to do all the work with just case made equipment.

I don't have a goal. I buy what I like when I can get a good deal. My collection was already in a national magazine,so I guess anything from here is just for my own eyes anyway.

My initial goal was to have my Dads M, my Great gramps F14, either my gramps H or his C, leaning more towards the C since I a pic of me and my brother when we were little sitting on the seat. The only thing that hasn't happened, and never will, is getting my gramps C. It was burned in a barn fire and the remains were scraped.

My problem is I like to much stuff so I buy if it is priced right and suits me not really brand or one thing specific.

My only goals are to be a good father, farm, maybe get some more MF tractors and equipment, and enjoy life! I had way to much stress in my twentys, told myself to not have that much stress, so now living happy and healthy!

I don't have goals I have rules. Main rule is never buy the next project until the current one is done or at least very close to done. Once I finish a project if I am not using it and get board with it I sell it. My main fun is the challenge of a large project. Once the project is complete the fun is used up. Last project was a 1947 International pickup truck. Took five years to complete. I finished it a year ago. I use it for running around on the weekends. Current project is a 1952 Chevy Pickup. I imagine the IHC pickup will be for sale in a few years. For some reason I don't get too attached to stuff.

I am a younger guy (late 30s) for this hobby so my main goals is to have a few tractors and garden tractors to take to the shows with my family (have a couple Massey Harris tractors I am preparing). I would like to have something less common to take on tractor rides (4 wheeled Silver King?) and one early 20s or teens unit (International Titan is on my wish list) but family enjoyment is the main purpose we are into the hobby.

Except for the Lear jet and a little place on the Mediterranean, I've reached mine. Family healthy and happy, place paid for and I'm now down to 1 tractor that I have had since 1971. Happy camper.

Really I didn't have a lot of goals and never even considered I'd have near the amount of tractors and equipment I have now, just looked for bargains on tractors that I happened to like the
looks of and buy it,If something sits here awhile and I get tired of looking at it I usually sell it if I can make a few $$$.Last year I said I was going to quit buying tractors then ran across 5 Olivers in about a 3 months period that I bought because they were too good of a deal to turn down.Oh Well.

I like stuff that I can take out and play with. I use most of my toys and if it just sets around out it goes.We now have seven Deere 45,55,95 and 105 combines.I really like forage equipment and own six forage harvester that we try to cut a few loads with each year. I like mainly the Deere machinery from the 1960's but do have some orange as Grandfather had that.I do not have a real plan just buy what interest me when I have some extra money.Well I do have a list of wants but I have most of them.Next might be an IH 550 or 555 chopper and an IH 51 silage wagon.Tom

My goals keep changing, right now I am thinning the herd and thinking towards retirement and traveling. A move may be in the future. Some things that happened the last few years made the objects less important.

I don't really have a goal ? never really did with them. I just found some and fixed them up. Don't really use any of them and that's not good on them either.
So now as I get older I guess my goal would be hoping to sell them for more than I have in them !
Thinking back I would of been WAY better off putting that money into my own place and having it all paid off ! I could of retired early . Your still young you might want to reassess your goals ?

mine is to have a operating CASE museum,,, "I Do now" I was going for one of every model from the Flambeau to the end of the 70 series,,, when I counted one day and found I have over 100 tractors alone already I decided it was time to cut back,,, I am down to 90 right now if my count is correct,,, if I could sell off another 50 I would still be in fine shape,,, oh did I say I collect all things CASE? try storing 13 running CASE combines lol a bad disease I have and its contagious
cnt

My goal is to have all of my stuff in good working order. Although I have slowed down considerably I seem to keep buying stuff here and there. I actually should sell a few items.

I only have one collection and that's baseball cards, 58, 9 and 60, haven't bought one since except for my son. We used to collect coins but some SOB cleaned us out when we were on vacation a few years ago, guess if I had a goal it would be to stumble upon the thief and alter their dental work with a piece of pipe. Do have a Super M and Super C and four Wheel Horses and one JD garden tractor, all look good and fully functional. Every thing under roof and no junk behind the shed. Don't want anymore, out of room and too old to start anything else.
