I got a couple packages to day in the mail. like I said just like Christmas, but something I can actually use. One package is a set of rings for my AC Model M, the other is a cylinder bead hone. I have a question on honing. What can I use if I don't have the real honing oil? Stan

Use the oil that you will use in the engine-that is all I ever used.Mark

After you hone, clean the cylinder walls with ATF. Use white paper towels and keep going until you don't get any more dirt/grit. That will remove all the honing grit. Be sure to wipe down the crank as you'll get drips of grit on it during the process.

I always used diesel fuel to hone with that way the grit tends to wash out of the stones.

I have an old Sunned hone and the booklet says even shortening (Crisco) can be used and to clean with very hot water and detergent. You can also hone dry.
