started seeing this weed this year. they grow pretty fast, along the edges of the fields and in the timber. kind of has a bamboo like stalk, they cut easy with a corn knife. and idea what this is?? north central illinois

Yep. Poison hemlock. Spray when it is small to kill it. But each mature plant makes 10,000 seeds. It is a long process to kill it. Best remedy is a thick stand of grass, mowed often.
 
Same thing here..E SD...except with white blossoms. Started seeing it a couple years ago. Spray it with 2,4D amine and it will come back from the root unless you use a heavy rate. 2,4D and Banvel at a good rate usually gets it.
 
Poison hemlock. Been fighting the stuff for 44years. Got it slowed way down but have to work on it every year here in North central Iowa. Used roundup and cornerstone this year. Got a good kill on small stuff. Go back and cut the missed plants. Swede
 
thats not Queen anns lace . Now the only reason i know this is because my wife has schooled me on this plant. What she calls Queens Anns lace i have always called chigger bushes. They always had little red bugs we always call chiggers. But to my wife O no thats Queens Anns Lace and dont weed eat it if you see it growing in the yard somewhere. LOL
