I have a super 55 1957 , i took the governor apart BUT believe it may have been assembled improperly as it looked like it was dissembled before - is there a exploded view around of this assembly :?
is there a posted discussion on how to adjust this assembly and all the linkage to the carb,,, ?
It surges and when you being the throttle bar down it dies :((
any help deeply appreciated -

The link should take you to an exploded view. If you switch over to the Oliver forum on this site and do a search,I've explained the process of adjusting those several times. It might not come up in a search for a Super 55,but those governors are the same on all the Oliver gas tractors from the Super 55,66 on up to the 1550-1600 etc. So just search governor on most any model and keep trying, you should find it somewhere on there.

It's really simple. There is an adjusting screw on the front of the governor housing that you tighten to reduce slack/restore proper clearance and eliminate surging. The driven gear on the governor wears and the adjustment is no longer adequate. A new gear is the traditional cure but you might put a thrust bearing or washer in there to verify the situation before spending the big money.
