Local news last night said the solar farm in Vigo co is operational. Duke energy has a 20 year contract. Be interesting to see how it works. geo.

In 20 years, the maintenance costs wll be greater than the income generated, and it will be abandoned.

Indy has a solar farm operating out on excess Indy airport land. Started selling electric back in December 2015. It covers something like 75 acres. In southern Indiana we get electric from our co-op for around 11 cents a kilowatt. Paper said the Indy solar farm sells electric to Indy PL for 18-20 cents a kilowatt. Then the IPL sells to consumers at a price high enough to recover their cost of buying solar power. Switching from coal to solar generation sometimes comes at a price not readily apparent to us until you get the bill.

And nuclear is even more efficient than coal.

Anyone know anything about the windmills in Ohio and Ind line? How long they been there? Cost efficient?
