Baler Problems

First of all, I live in the Ozarks. There is no flat ground in the area I live. It is hilly. I have a 269 New Holland baler. I have baled with it for a couple of years now. I have not had issues with it missing knots. I baled about 60 bales this year with no problems and then it started missing knots on the left side coming down a hill. Since then it will not knot on that side if I am going downhill. If I am going uphill it knots both sides and does not miss a bale. As soon as I start downhill, it will not knot the left side. I baled three fields with it this year and had the same problem each time. I have never heard of this problem before. Does anyone have any ideas what would cause this or what to do about it? Thanks in advance for your help.

Check the hay dogs and make sure they are working as they should be on that side. Also make sure everything is tight on that side because if something is loose gravity might effect it. So what part of the Ozarks you in I too live in the Ozarks and bale hay

I will check the dogs on it tomorrow. I think one of the springs may be broken on the dog. I will also check to see if there is anything loose. Thank you for your help and response.

Old, I am east of Ava and south of Norwood. I live 20 miles from both of them and about a mile from Roy's house.

Check all springs. I'll not familiar with nh balers, but when our Massey starts missing knots it's a busted or even a weak spring.

Maybe just make a loop and only bale uphill? Think about the bales going uphill you have tension on the string around the bale, Downhill nor so much and maybe compression . The twine is looser downhill. Check the finger on that side. Get more tension the twine.
