have a new to me 4430, swapped out the JD hyd couplers for pioneer.
now when I have it on 567 baler the hyd won't hold the door closed, and it will actually creep open.
when I use loader with same valves the tilt won't hold either.

did I miss something in swap or is it further up the line in the hyd pump?

could it be a linkage problem to the levers in cab? seems slow when you go to the stop on lever but speeds up if you back off lever just a bit.

I had this problem back in the 90's, & it took a certified JD dealer to solve the problem. Been too long ago; But I think the linkage was the problem. I didn't swap couplers though. Do You know for sure the inside passages line up correctly with the replacement housing? Or did You replace the internal components using the original housing? If the entire housing was replaced the bolts might line up; but the ability for hydraulic fluid to flow could be hindered. JD was & is constantly building tractors with ever increasing Gallons per minute flow rates. I wouldn't be surprised if the 55, & 60 series tractors are triple the output of the 30 series.

You have a Selective Control Valve ( SCV) leaking internally. The external linkage would more than likely NOT be the trouble. There are four internal valves/spools that all have to seal for the SCVs to hold pressure when in neutral. Your baler end gate creeping back open is a sure symptom of the high pressure valve leaking across in the SVC valve.

I would recommend taking the SCV valve to some one that has experience on these valve to be overhauled. I can tell just by the way you asking about the valves you are not familiar with these Valves enough to over haul them yourself. I am NOT trying to run you down but these valves can be tricky to get right even for an experienced person. Removing the entire valve is simple. Just unhook the linkage form the control lever and remove the four mounting bolts that hold the complete valve to the rock shaft housing. You should replace the orings there when you reinstall the rebuilt valve.

For now, reverse the hoses, so it holds the gate SHUT.

When things slow down a bit you need to have the SCV overhauled.

One or more of the 4 poppet valves in control valve aren't seating correctly. Do as Bob suggested and reverse hoses or switch gate hoses to other SCV if so equipped.

Was thinking of changing hoses so I'll start there.

I did use the factory housing and got the internal components from deere.

I agree that your SCV is leaking internally. I posted
on here about a month ago about my 4020 doing
the same thing. Tim S from this sight commented
saying this would be my problem. He is all set up to
rebuild them at a fair price. Had him switch to
pioneer for me also at the same time. Tractor works
great now. He does a great job, if your looking to
have someone do the work for you, look him up!
