Any of you guys use a bale basket?

Hey guys, so I asked this same question on the implement board, so far no response.

I bought a pair of baskets at a auction and drug them home today, all I need to know is can someone tell me about how far the hitching point should be from the rear of the bale chamber? Yes, I am aware that the hitch needs to be in center of the chamber (no problem there, as it is already centered on the Deere 336), and I know the chutes need removed, but cannot find any drawbar info.

I'm guessing it should be around 6", but would like some verification. I would just adjust the drawbar on the baler until it looks about right, but previous to me owning it, it had been broken and cobbled and is no longer adjustable so I will have to modify what I have or make something else up for the time being.

Thanks in advance,

Brad

I have thought about getting one of them but
my fields are on the small side I heard they
don't work real well when you have to do a
lot of turning maybe you can keep us updated
on how they work out.its hard to find help
in the hay field these days

Sharp corners and slippery stuff (straw, dry long stem grass hay...) like to give a little trouble on sharp corners. Alfalfa you can bale about like always for cornering, the bales hang on to each other.

I've found turning left works better than turning right with my setup. Also making a tiny bit of a dogleg - overturning a bit and then coming back the other way a bit - helps work the 'bend' through the slides.

The instructions that came with the hitch when we
got ours gave a range of dimensions that would
work. That paper is long since gone. Mine is 3 1/2"
from the end of the bale chamber to the center of the
pin hole, and 9" below the bale chamber. Height
matters, too.
I think 6" back would be ok, but I don't think you'd
want it much farther than that.
