Help with F700 alternator

I have a 84 model F700 farm dump truck. Hydro boost blew a line and caught the thing on fire. Wiring is rough after the fire so I wanted to rig alternator circuit out side of wiring harness. I need some help. How do you tell if there is an internal or external voltage regulator ( I do not see one). Next there were 4 terminals I can tell the one going to the battery. Have not found markings for the switch and I think one is ground so that leaves me with a terminal. Sorry for rambling.

I don't know about your vintage, but Ford used to use a remote regulator with four terminals- I A S F. Do some internet searches and you can find diagrams.

I would stick a one wire gm alternator on it and run a wire to the battery or starter which ever is closer.

I have an 89 Ford F800 and it has an external regulator on the right side of the radiator core support. I think by the ignition module.

F is field

A is the reference

S is the switched terminal.

Never used the I.

I've am using these to run some older GM alternators that I can only find mechanical regulators for. I have a modestly rewired one currently on a Delco generator.
