OT Fathers day weekend plans

I am planning to clean up boat this weekend and get ready for the season, I need to use deck wash on the hull and remove oxidation and lime. My family is not into doing work, so looks like i will do it alone.

David, when I was young and foolish I had both a boat and pool for 20 years. Now I'm the happiest camper because I no longer have a boat and pool. A pool is a hole you pour water in and money. A boat makes a hole in water and you pour money into it too. Both require a lot of work. Like you I'm glad I no longer have to do the work. gee

Lets see, building a 12X12 2 story play house for my grandkids.

Yea I get to do the work. Oldest son has "plans", 2nd is on call at work, 3rd is working and the 4th is at National Guard summer camp. Only daughter close enough is painting my grand daughters room this weekend. Between the play house and the weather I don't think I'm going to get out fishing.

Wife invited ALL the kids (3, plus spouses) and ALL the grandkids (7, ages 5 mos. to 10 years). And I get to barbecue. So much for the ball game and a couple of barley pops. . .
Oh, and today, of course, I've gotta get everything ship-shape around here.

I put in a 20x40 pool in 08 and can say it only cost me a few hundred a year at most. Throw a few bags of salt in and maybe a gallon of muriatic acid.

I didn't have any plans until a storm came through last night with 60+mph winds and golf ball size hail. Now I get to help neighbors cut up limbs and trees that blew over. I only had 2 broken windows and some smaller branches down. Helped cut and haul wood all morning, but now the calls are coming in for services that need put back up. Looks like I get to work this weekend. Wife and kids cleaned up our lawn and then came down to town where I was with the H with the loader and chainsaw. They all worked good.

Will be going to a "Family Reunion" at a very nice park south of Battle Creek, Iowa. Good food and plenty of BS.

My Dad, brothers, nephews and I go on a guys only fishin trip.
Then a cookout and pool party at my brother's house.
If it wasn't for the pool party, my daughters would complain
about the "sexist" fishing trip. Although the tradition was
started long before they were born!

You should clean up the boat, hook it up and just go by yourself. That may come at a high price, however might be a lesson for the future. Just don't blame me. joe

I've only seen salt water pools in Florida. Both sisters have boats and pools, better than having one myself. Their chlorine generators usually last about 5-6 years, then it over $1000 to replace. Same with boat, just another $1000 in repairs is not a new engine. One sister put about $7k to have their boat dock screened in, with 3 motorized screen doors. NO THANK YOU!! Geo.

I went with my son and his 2 daughters to the motorcycle museum in Anamosa today. Quite a few odd/unusual/rare items there. A half hour there was too long for the girls, 2 hours barely enough for me.

Spending the entire Father's Day weekend helping my son and family move to their new house. Great way to spend the weekend.
