Pickle Loaf

I just finished eating a Pickle Loaf sandwich for dinner and got to thinking...

Is Pickle Loaf a Southern thing or do y'all eat it all around the country?

Just curious....

It is here in Iowa if you look for it.

We have it in Michigan. I prefer olive loaf though,or pickled ring bologna.

What's pickle loaf? That the stuff that is like sandwich sized bologna slices with olives and such made into it?

We have it in southern Indiana. I prefer olive load though. But it's all hard to beat unless it's cajun turkey

My uncle has either garlic Bologna, pickle or olive loaf and mayonnaise sandwiches for lunch every day. Northwest PA. He got me hooked on em when I was young. I do like a little more variety in the lunch box but they are some of the regular choices.

Rrlund around here the only pickled bologna we get is cut up ring bologna with onions we call it polish caviar. It's tasty.

Back in the old days (1961) when I was a salesman for the now defunct Rath Packing Company, pickle and pimento loaf was a popular item

We always had olive loaf.

Don't know that I've ever seen pickle loaf... does it have sweet pickles or dill pickles in it?

Pimiento loaf, also commonly spelled pimento loaf, also called pickle and pimiento loaf or P&P loaf, is a loaf-type luncheon meat containing finely chopped beef and pork, as well as chopped pickles and pimientos. After being formed into a loaf and cooked, the loaf is kept whole so it can be sliced and served cold as deli meat. Pimento loaf is closely related to olive loaf (the primary difference being pimentos and pickles replacing pimento-stuffed olives) and spiced luncheon loaf.

SweetFeet- I think it's all about the same thing....more of a regional name it seems....

Around here it's called pickle loaf, other place call it olive loaf, others call it pimento loaf, etc.

Looking at pics of the slices, to me it all looks the same.

Hard to beat pickled Bologna and when it's gone throw boiled eggs the juice! Only down side is if your in a cab tractor the next day!

Always liked pickle pimento loaf. Have switched to jalopeno loaf lately..

I think slices of sweet pickle would be good in it... maybe better than olives even.

We have a company within three miles of us called Koegel Meats and they make it by the tons. I have known the family my entire life and they are first class. Their plant is as clean as a hospital and have a tremendous reputation for hot dogs, Polish Sausage, olive loaf, pickle loaf and all other meat products you can think of. A great place to tour but you have to put on what you might consider a space suit to go past the office. It has been here in central Michigan as long as I can remember.

I bet the plant is cleaner than a hospital. When is the last time you saw a hospital mopped with hot bleach water???
