Hey Billy, you're a Generator man, in most RV's Ive owned the older ones had the 1800 RPM Two Cylinder Onans I loved, the later had the loud so called MicroQuiet (Yeah Right) single cylinder 3600 RPM Onans, but I am getting another RV that has The Generac 4000 grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr which I never heard anything good about. It works and powers good now, but is it really a piece of crap ???? lol it has 250 hours. If it dies Id love an old two cylinder 1800 RPM Onan but they may be too tall to fit so Id go with another darn MicroQuiet I guess. Just how bad is the Generac 4000???

John T. There is a good reason they are called Genajunk. They got out of the true RV business in 2012.Parts for any of them can be very hard to find. If you can even find them.I have talked to many RV owners that are now hauling around units they can't use. Some have gone to the MicroQuiet units. Some are using portables that they have to hook up to use.I have had a few that have found the old Onan units. Had the compartment enlarged for the old Onan. The last 4000 rv unit I worked on. Had a blown engine at 35 hours. No warranty. I would use the one your buying until breaks. Then switch to Onan. Not the best choice or have the compartment enlarged if possible. Find a good used Onan.

I have a 6.5KW onan out of a motor home that I plan to sell. Had it checked out and it runs great. Haven't check the power part yet but don't anticipate a problem. $750. I'm at 38843. I can ship thru Fastenal.

Thanks Tracy, unfortunately I barely have room for a 4 KW so I will use the Generac 4000 until it dies and then have to go with a shorter more compact Micro Quiet 4000 I guess.

Thanks Billy, I will just use it until it dies and then look for an Onan 4000 Micro Quiet, they are common and easy to find.

The micro quiet will last about like the generac. Generac's have been known to give long service but if you change you don't have to go with the micro quiet. The Emerald series should fit the hole.

No idea if and when it will ever die lol Its working fine now and may for a day or years. As long as its working fine I will use it and worry about a replacement when that day comes (I hope not for a long time, I do take excellent care of anything about my RV)
