Clutch free travel.

How should free travel feel? Is it how far you can press the clutch with one finger.? My 4010 is out of pedal adjustment, I can push it down an
inch with my finger, but there is no break wher it's easy and gets hard quick, just a gradual increase.

I can't tell you the specified procedure for that tractor, I'm sure someone will have the info.

But with any dry clutch, you want enough free travel that the release bearing is not touching the release fingers of the pressure plate. That can sometimes be hard to determine depending on the configuration of the pedal and how it is spring returned.

But if you can feel "some" soft pedal at the top, and the clutch is slipping, it's time for a new clutch. If it feels softer than it normally did, there is a problem with the pressure plate, as in broken springs.

If you've run out of adjustment, it's time for a new clutch. If you put it off, it's going to fail at the most inconvenient time in the most inconvenient location.
