This is the part of the previous statement that had many doubting.

" Even with wide front ends on them"

The ones in the pic are narrow fronts but maybe 1 wide frt.

Canadian? If I'm seeing that correctly, the front of that semi tractor says "MERCURY". If I'm not mistaken, that made it a Canadian FORD truck back in the day. Those tractors COCKSHUTTS too maybe? I'm thinking that 1+1=2.

Ya,it looks like Mercury to me too. Those were made when Cockshutt made their own tractors,so they would have been sold in Canada as Olivers.

Kind of what I thought. Bet the fuel consumption pulling that load was quite a bit with the gas motor in that Mercury tractor

In the 50's, Monarch was a Mercury and Meteor was a Ford in Canada on cars.

If it was a 534(think that was the cu in.) it got about 4-5 MPG
