This 4cyl diesel engine has no data plate and I need help identifying it. It has a LUCAS injector pump (made in UK). See engine pictures.

looks like a Cummins, is that a data plate between those two rivets on the side of the front cover in that last picture?
 
Cummins 4bt and you have a complete data plate right there in front of you. Take some paint thinner or starting fluid and give it a rub.
 
Another vote for a Cummins. About 10 years ago, I took out a Perkins motor out of a Cat forklift and dropped one of those in it . It's what Cat should have put in the machine in the first place.
 
Definitely a 4B3.9 liter Cummins. It's not a '4BT' as it has no turbo. If the plate is still between the rivets, do as another reply suggested and use some lacquer thinner, or paint remover, to remove the paint, and make the engine info visible again.
 
Thanks you to all. I appreciate the good professional help. I will try to find/clean the referenced data plate and, if successful, report back.

f you know where the data plate is located why not tell him as he has already said he found none.
 
The data plate should be on the front gear cover. Fuel filter side between the rivits. But looks like it has been removed.
