Weed eaters (again)

I've had both. Hands down 4 cycle. Easier to start, no mixed gas to go bad, an engine with more torque at low speeds. The head on husky has a slip clutch, so while engine is idling string isn't spinning. Easy to remove head, no tools to replace both strings. I'll never go back. Can't stand the exhaust of 2 cycle, always needed a shower after using.

If you are looking at price only, you won't buy a 4 cycle.

I wanted to buy a Honda because of the great reviews. Couldn't find one. Bought a Husqvarna instead. Looked under cover and saw Honda stamped on engine.

I have had both and like the 4 stroke better. They are easy to start and quitter that 2 stroke. You get more work done on less fuel. I have the Stihl four mix engine (4 cycle) and you still mix fuel and oil together but these engines don't smoke and stink like the 2 stroke engines.

Ive had a 4 stroke for the last, oh 7 or 8 years. THis one ,and one other than was given to me, are those Lowes TroyBuilt unit that you can change the end on. I have the tiller, edger and the trimmer attachments. The engine had good power, when you could get it to run. Earlier this year I went back to a 2 stroke Echo. It is no where near as loud as the 4 stroke it replaces, but again its 7 or 8 years old.

Never owned or even used a 4 stroke trimmer BUT

Typically a 4 stroke runs more efficiently and quietly.
But the 2 stroke has better power to weight ratio.

Since I do have to pack it around I love my 4 stroke outboard but will stick with the 2 stroke trimmers.

The four stroke has a much better power band than the two stroke. The four stroke has more low end torque than two stroke engine and doesn't require the high speed winding like the 2 stroke.

We have 2 stroke and 4 stroke pole saws at work. I myself have always been a 2 stroke fan. I don't care much for 4 stroke dirt bikes. Don't get me wrong, they have come a long ways, but I love tO rap on a 2 stroke and listen to it howl. 4 strokes just sound slow. I've had both 4 stroke and 2 stroke dirt bikes, and sold my 4 stroke. Now, back to the pole saws, I always grab a 2 stroke. It cuts faster than the 4 stroke, and when you are holding that thing as high as you can reach all day long, that means a lot to me. The 4 strokes vibrate and turn too slow for me.

(quoted from post at 12:11:47 06/05/16) Yeah, but which cordless? The 2 stroke or the 4 stroke? :)

Depends on how much trimming you do, and how long each battery is good for. Might need to stroke it just once, or if you didn't do all the trimming last time, you might have to stroke it twice.

I do it for a living, nothing but 2 stroke here. Red max and Echo have worked great for me. Didn't have good luck with stihl. I use ethanol gas, but they get used everyday. But set for 4 months in winter
