Mixing #45 and #55 detachable chain (hay conveyor)

Anyone know if you can mix #45 chain with #55 and if the return rollers are the same for both? I've put a horizontal conveyor up in my mow finally (yes I know I've 50 years late) and it has #45 chain that I'm told isn't available anymore.

Would think that running #45 on #55 sprockets would eat both the chain and the sprockets up in a hurry.

No, they don"t mix. They have different dimensions. Both chain and sprockets. You could switch to 55 sprockets and buy new chain for them.

Looking it up, all I see is that #45 and #55 have the same number of links in 10 feet- 74 links. Worst you can do is buy a roll and try it over the sprockets. I wouldn't think you could mix the 2, but it seems like a direct replacement.

I was suprised to see that Shoup does not list #45 chain. Didn't the old Kelly Ryan elevators use 45?
