OT - The One Thing I Miss on The Old Farm.....

Beautiful day here in the mountains of VA. Rain and clouds have retreated for 80 deg temps, blue skies and a mild breeze.

It's 12:36 - noonish and lunch time.

I surely miss on a day like this, while having a break for bread, listening to Paul Harvey's noon time broadcast.....

Yes I miss them too. Evan further back on the CBS system at noon was the Arther Godfrey show.

Harvey's news may have been OK, but his commercials were so full of fabrications and outright lies any lesser personage would have been charged with false advertising. Like claiming "Theragesic" ointment was totally odor free. I tried some and it stunk so bad I threw it away. Or his claim that a 1934 Chevy truck hauled a 5,000 pound load up Pike's Peak as a side trip on the way to California. Even if a 1934 Chevy truck managed to get to the top of Pike's Peak with a 5,000 how would it get back down, given the weak mechanical brakes the truck had?

I finally quit listening to him 'cause I couldn't stand his commercials.

Godfrey died of emphysema at age 79, according to Wikipedia. Only connection to a mountain was that he was in Mount Sinai Hospital when he passed.
