rod cap lock nuts

On my 2 N, the castle nuts with safety were, replaced with nuts with slits in them. Is that a good or bad thing?

If you are worried, put a drop of "wicking grade" Loctite on them after torquing.

" is that as safe as the safety wire deal?"

Probably NOT, but we are dealing with a low HP, low RPM engine here, not aircraft parts!

If the slotted, self-locking nuts are torqued properly, the chance of one shaking loose isn't very great, and with the "wicking Loctite" it simply ain't gonna happen!

(quoted from post at 13:16:27 05/29/16) I guess Ford had the air plane in mind back in 1945. Thanks for the info. Smokey
I guess Ford had airplanes in mind when he started building them in 1925.
