That one hit a little close to home, Jon.

I find it sobering how some my age have stopped aging (are no longer drawing breath), and even more so, those who haven't made it as far as I have. I thank God I still have relatively good health, that I'll probably see the end of another day, and may be blessed enough to see another. I still have a lot I need and want to do.

You got that right. I'm so tired of hearing about bad knees, bad backs, over weight aches and pains from those gray haired old goats who are younger than me! LOL

"I'm retired." "I can't work anymore"

WAH!

Guy I have coffee with just turned 84, and you gotta love his positive attitude. He's diabetic, bad back, and has a tumor in his lung that appears to be in remission, but he's always looking forward to the day. The other day he was going through the obits in the Sunday paper and counting all the people who lived longer than him.

Right on!

I'm 81, and I figure that since the Lord has blessed me with enduring health and cognitive abilities, I owe it to Him to continue to make use of them.

I was born December 7, 1934. Last evening I sprung for a new Hobart 140 MIG welder at a local TSC store. I wrote a check, and the fellow at the register asked to see my driver's license. He looked at my license and said, "You don't look like you're 82".

I told him, "I'm not. I'm 81". He had just looked at the year I was born.

He admitted to being 71, and my wife told me later he looked older than I.

When I had my annual physical at the VA a month or so ago, I had a new assigned doctor. She asked if I was retired. When I told her I was still working basically full time as a County Commissioner, she said, "Good for you! Too many people count the days until they can retire, then all they do is sit around, drink beer, and watch TV. It's straight downhill for them from there".

A local fellow recently had a big party for his 95th birthday.

He told the guests, "I'd thought about waiting five more years till I turned 100 to have this party, but then I thought maybe some of you wouldn't be able to be here.

I used to dread getting older, but now that I'm here, I find I'm reveling in it.

I'll be 73 on Tuesday, still bouncing around on a tractor, plowing and planting, and hurting some--but life is good!
