What should I do to my Farmall m to be a competitive stock puller because I don't want to mess with the engine I would like to get a turbo and cold air intake what else should I do to it to make it a good puller

As was said,a Turbo M is NOT 'stock'...Since you don't want to go "into the engine",about all yu can do is to give a good complete 'tuneup',make sure EVERYTHING is up to snuff.Tweak the governor a bit.Be aware that 10% over is the legal overspeed limit(Some events test this). If you still want more, then you have to go into the engine. That means MONEY.Then you may get bumped into the modifyed classes.Go down to tractor pulling board and ask there.Once you get more 'ponies' then you need to get them to the ground. Too much power and all you do is spin.A good balance is where you spin out just before you run out of power.

According to NATPA rules, a turbo is not allowed. If it didn't come from the factory with one, you can't pull with it. An M in good mechanical condition should pull just fine in the stock (3mph) classes. Concentrate on weight distribution and driving skills. Learn to "read" the track. Antique tractor pulling is supposed to be fun, not a total money pit.

With the club I pull with you can't pull with a turbo in farm stock or modified classes. Do as others said and then play around with tire pressure, correct drawbar height, and placing weights in the right spot. If your just starting pulling listen and watch the older pullers you can pickup a lot of ideas from them.

"Stock" means something different in different places. Some places it means no suitcase weights that weren't factory option. Other places, stock is the equivalent of NASCAR being stock car racing.

Start with getting a copy of the rules from the pulls you want to run at. Next get your hitch as high and short as the rules allow. At that point, if you are running slow classes (less than 6mph) and you can spin out, you need more traction. If you stall out in first gear, then worry about more power.

Stock means you cannot change the weight and speed cannot be over 10% over rated and cannot be puting out over 10% more power than factory. And drawbar must be factory and cannot be higher than factory made so a JD A or B will pull with a lower drawbar than a Farmall H or M.
