# 10 vulcan plow question

Found this nice # 10 Vulcan in a building on a farm I purchased. Trying to get handles back in it right. Best I remember the handles were offset where on could walk on the land as you plow. My question is I seem to remember wire running from the small handle rod bracket up to where the rods go thru the handles . Was this something my grandfather added for strength or was that what the small cast bracket between the rods was for. Photos attached.

Never saw anything like that. Never even saw one with those round rods. Everything I've got has flat strap iron braces.

Well RR how you doing.. Thanks for the rely thought someone would know but guess not. That thing appears to be factory , was some parts to the handles on the thing. Seems to me I have seen them with wire from that bracket to the place the rod goes thru the handle but that may have been farmer ***** rigging . Left handle only has one bolt, not real sturdy. When is you Tennessee yard sale vacation?

The 127 Sale is August 4-7. We'll probably stay at Dale Hollow Lake by Byrdstown the whole time. Several of these plows came from there. There's two Vulcans in my collection, but both of them are hillsides.

Well I found a plow collector.. Knew somebody on here had to have that nich. Hope you have a good Tennessee trip. This is a nice plow but I have no real hankering for it. Should I rub linseed oil or something on the handles ? Probably but it outside in a flower bed?

I think I'd put something on them if it'll be outside. I've got all of mine inside. The ones that aren't on display are in the old milkhouse.

The first time we went down there,we stayed in Cookeville one night. We ran in to a guy at breakfast who was from North Carolina and was a serious Oliver plow collector. I never got his name though. Wish I would have.
