Question about Kohler CH18 engine?

I took the cover off of the crankcase breather to change the filter and check the reed. There were two reeds stacked together instead of one like I expected. Is this common? This engine has never been apart, so I want to think it's supposed to have two stacked, but when I check parts suppliers, they only mention replacement reed (not reedS). These things are super thin, and I wonder if two stuck together when it was assembled. Can somebody enlighten me?

Should only be one reed.

Thanks Larry - I couldn't tell there were two at first, until I started wiping the oil film off, then they separated.

I'll put only one back.
