Hey this maybe a dumb question but anyone know how to find number 1 cylinder looking from the front of my tractor trying to set my valves and the manual is not helping thanks

That's what I thought but the pic in the manual really didn't help thanks a bunch now to find out the setting for the intake and exhaust thanks

Cylinder on the front, also remember each cylinder has 2 TDC's, use the one on the compression stroke.

Thanks all found tdc set 4 valves now ran into another problem cant turn the motor over to adjust the other 4 valves I'm doing a complete motor job and now I'm stumped lol

You usually can find TDC on any cylinder by watching the valves on the mating cylinder,1&4,2&3.So when the valves 'rock' on 4,set 1.Valve 'rock' is when the exhaust closes and the intake opens,as you bar the engine around. Those valves will be tight-can't wiggle the rocker arms, and the other mating cylinder will be loose at the rocker arms.On 1&4,you should also be able to line up the timing mark on the damper pulley.
If you can't bar the engine around, are you out of gear? Or did you set the valves too tight and they're hitting the top of the piston? You may need to back off your adjustments to see.Mark

Did you plati gauge the rods and mains? Bearings may be too tight. Being stiff enough that it's hard to turn is normal. Also what about ring end gap? That can also make an engine to stiff to turn.
