Bare fields, no tractors

Left South Central Michigan Thursday, drove to Columbus, OH for great nieces graduation. Then on to Cincinnati to our son's house. Lots of fields not yet planted, no corn up until south of Van Wert, OH. And not one tractor in the fields, just too wet. Going to be a late year.

Very wet...
Cannot even walk through the heavy ground here, let alone drive a tractor through them.

Water standing heavy in same areas that were flooded out last year. Through that area today.

Lots of guys going rude open last week and through Monday. Since then, it's been cold and wet again. I really don't think the ground temp is up where it needs to be for good corn, and the cold & wry won't help at all. I think there's gonna be a fair amount of replanting going on in a few weeks...

We visited the fellow I used to work for last night, and asked him how the planting was going. He plants with a new 6 row planter and said he has 296 acres planted. He plants about 500 acres. It's been pretty dry here in central NY. Supposed to get some rain today.

I'm rained out for the foreseeable future. About every other day or so we get .3 to add to the misery. I went and got one load of seed beans so I could be ready. Now I'm even more nervous. I still have some fields with washouts to fix but I can't do that either. Last year I was still busy planting the 26th of June and it was an excellent crop. I'm seeing a repeat.

Only a couple of hours to finish planting here... both corn and beans. Been cold, and the first planted corn will look at frost tonight.

I'm about to look for a part time job just to get away from here and get my mind off it. Another seven tenths overnight from a 40% chance.

We seem to be about right on moisture here I NNY. I'd wager that 2/3 or more of the corn is in and most of the beans are done also. It is a bit colder than it should be, but all in all it could be worse here. We are going to have a lousy 3 or 4 days and then it the cold stuff should be just about over. We usually get a light frost around Memorial Day yet.

you need to go 40 miles NE of Madison, it's a totally differen't story on the Mn/SD border, maybe 50% of the corn is in and very little is up

let me pik up where you guys left off grrrrrr ,rrrrr,. durn rain !
,,Louisville area below 60 degrees and clouds all day

I just went out to check cattle again. I've had my long underwear on all day. I had my coveralls and insulated vest on when I walked out the door. I turned right around and came back for my stocking cap. I could see my breath when I was riding up the lane.

I'm in the S.E. corner of Warren County and its rained everyday but 2 for the last 3 weeks ! To say its wet is an understatement , What ground that has been planted is not looking good. Most of it is corn but there are a few fields planted in beans . There's going to be a lot of replanting if it ever dries up but its not looking good for the next week were looking at rain again. If it ever dries up guys are going to be going hog wild trying to catch up. Aint farmin fun ? Bandit
