Land Pride/ Kubota

After 5 years of talks and partnerships KUBOTA finally announced today they have reached an agreement to purchase Great Plains Manufacturing including all 5 Kansas plants. Going to be interesting to see how all this plays out. MOST Kubota dealers were already a Land Pride dealer but in some towns the Land pride account may be at NH or JD sow what they will do there will be interesting. Good thing is now Kubota dealers will have a almost full line of implements to go with the tractors. Nice to have money to buy what you want and Kubota has been in a strong financial position for the last few years.

My local CNH/Kubota dealer is also a Land Pride dealer.

Kubota and Land Pride have been partnering with merchandising for some time lately.

Sounds like a good combination.

I am glad you are impressed by Japanese ownership of a (formerly) American company. NOT sure WHY, though, or what this has to do with "Yesterdays Tractors"?????????????????

jm,You said two different things in the same sentence,"Great Plains" and" Land Pride" are "two" separate Company Contracts. You can be one and not the other, but most GP dealers have LP also.LP is their Consumer grade line, not their AG line.Like you said,it could get interesting because most GP dealers make most KUBOTA dealers look like street corner car lots.

What does allot of the posts on here have to do with Yesterdays Tractors???????????????

I weed through them and if the topic doesn't interest me I just move on. I have read allot of interesting things on here that had nothing to do with this Forums main topic.

Yeah, seems like most of it should be on 'Tractor Tales (OT)'. BUT, it's all good! 8)

Got me wondering now. The Agco dealer that I've dealt with for years lost their Agco contract last fall because the owner died and his son and daughter in law didn't have their name on the contract. They're still open with short lines, including Land Pride and Great Plains. They're also a long time Gehl dealer, but we all know what happened to the Gehl line of hay tools. They've been pushing Kuhn since they have that contract too.
I wonder if they'll be offered a full line Kubota contract now? This could get interesting.

This forum is called Tractor Talk and your talking about tractors. As far as i'm concerned this is perfectly on topic. I do agree with Bob in that I don't care for an American company selling out to a foreign company. It's going to happen and there's nothing we can do about it. Don't get me wrong I actually like Kubota products and don't blame them for diversifying. They are coming on strong in the farm equipment lineup, that's for sure.

Kansas thanks for taking up for me,, I thought it was about on topic as much as running electricity to a sub panel or my weed eater won,t run on ethanol gas. Pretty easy to skip over any topic one does not want to read. I never said I was for or against the sale, was just throwing it out there for those who might want to know. I have been associated with both companies far longer than I like to admit and I can tell you for sure both are first class companies when it comes to quality products and how they treat their dealers.

I agree with you jm. Even other prominent tractor manufactures such as JD don't utilize mostly American built components and most models are assembled in countries other than the USA.

FYI - we live in a global economy, get over it.

What amazes me is how the US is/has been the most powerful/profitable economy in the world - for decades, yet when an American company comes up for sale, a foreign entity buys it. Example - Fiat owns New Holland and CaseIH.

I have zero problems with goods and services being global. However, I believe in FAIR trade, not unfettered "fair" trade where countries manipulate their currency, have an economic advantage because of legal environmental abuse, etc.

Yea, kinda funny, Kubota is building tractors here in the US and France while JD is building the smaller Kubota sized lines "off shore" as is CaseIH. Go figure!

It's too late to worry about where companies are located. That horse is long ago out of the barn.

GM has eleven assembly plants in China and 7 out of every 10 GM vehicles is made and assembled out of the US, mostly in China. You can buy a Cadillac and it may have been made in China. GM took our billions of dollars in tax money and beefed up their Chinese operation. For all practical purposes GM is more of a Chinese company than American but guys keep on buying that GM stuff. GM quit caring about this country a full generation ago. The others are nearly as bad but no other so-called American car company has near the investment in China as GM.
