Saw this carving in an art gallery in Rochester, MN that features Minnesota artists.

I LOVED IT!! It's an amazing work - the photo really doesn't do it justice. Thought you may enjoy seeing it too.

Didn't buy it thought... would have to sell the farm to afford it. :(

I can't remember for sure but the price was either $83,000 or $87,000.

Incredible work. The men remind me of a couple of long gone neighbours. The horse looks a little familiar too...unc

Very cool, guesstamate of how big and thick it was? I wonder how long it took to make. Maybe one of the propective buyers is in the carving, Then it was to much to pay or the wife thought it was or would not fit in her decor. Thanks for posting it. MTP...

Oops, a few more details would have been good.

It's a large sized carving. I'd say about 2.5 feet x 3 feet. (The same artist also carved a life sized old woman - it was also fantastic.)

I cannot remember the artists name - but if I get back there sometime, I'll pop into the gallery to see.

The title of the carving is "Bill and The Boys".

I'd love to purchase a "real" painting and a small sculpture sometime - but has to be in a price range for us blue collar types. (Confident that I'll find something fantastic, yet affordable, someday.)

I thought of your recent pics of the dapple grey team when I saw this carving.

Our teen daughter loves your new team! They are a beautiful pair.

IA Roy,

I'd guess 2.5 feet x 3 feet. I added a few more details above.

Sure is a talented carver.

It's interesting the horse gets center stage on both the picture and title. It makes you wonder what was the special memory that horse had.

GRIN... I thought CNC was the initials of a famous carver.

I will try to find out if it is hand carving.

I wish I could punch in the link but go on Google and try bill and the boys . There is a guy with some fantastic chain saw art in pinrest like this. You got my curiosity in over drive thanks

Tom O.,

At an art gallery in the pedestrian subway... nearly a block east of Mayo Clinic (actually situated below the Mariott Hotel. The gallery is called James Krom Natural Images.

There were many beautiful paintings there as well. Some wonderful horse paintings, a beautiful small painting of a farmer in a field with corn shocks, and paintings of fields that were quite large and incredibly detailed (these were so good, that I actually thought they were blown up photographs).

I may be back at the clinic soon... and perhaps can snap a couple more pics. (They will probably think I'm "casing the joint". LOL)

michiganmike,

I'm not sure about the thickness... but will try to remember to note that, if I go see it again.

Sweetfeet,

I know exactly where that is. I have been there many times both as a patient, visiting my brother when he was having treatments there and as a pilot flying "Air Life Line' and "Angel Flights" there. It is one of the finest medical facilities in the world. I am hoping and praying that whatever you are there for is successful. Tom
