Allis wd45 wiring

I just got new wiring for the allis and it is converted to 12 volts already but doesn't have a voltage regulator. Is one required? Also the harness has 2 wires coming back from the alternator. I have one going to the ohm meter where would the second one go?

This is how it wires IF it's a Delco 10SI internally regulated alternator.

This is the most popular retrofit alternator. If the harness plug is about an inch long and 1/4" wide, it is an internal regulator. If the plug is square, it is external and will require a regulator.

Ohm meter???? Bet you a case of beer you do not have an ohm meter but an amp meter which are 2 very different things.
If you have an alternator what is it. As in what brand. If a Delco 10si that is a easy 3 wire set up which many of us can explain in our sleep

As far as I know, alternators don't need an external regulator.
