It was raining this morning on my way to town. I was pulling my dump trailer and a woman was tailgating me. Recently a woman ran in to the back of my trailer while I was stopped at a red light. I'm thinking dayshavoo, will this woman run into me too?

My truck and trailer was kicking up a wall of water. Her wipers were on high, mine were in intermittent.

There are only two short passing places on the way to town, rest of the road is double yellow. Needless to say, she couldn't pass me. I was going the limit. What do some people think, tailgating will make me go faster? Not happening.
geo.

Honest to God,some of them are so unbelievably stupid,I think if you pulled off the road and stopped so they could go by,they'd pull over and stop behind you.

Randy--have a question as to pedestal length down under where I asked about the GEM module...

Hang your trailer wheels off the pavement and that will usually get a tailgater off your rump real fast. I'm driving a safe speed for the load that I am hauling and won't speed up for some idiot thats in a hurry.

Know what you mean. Seems like I've been plagued with tailgaters the past few months. Just last week was pulling stock trailer on a winding, hilly, narrow state highway, 37 miles to my destination, speed limit is 55, I was driving about 58-59 MPH which is what I like to travel with this trailer. Anyway car starts following me...closely. Has several chances to pass but just stays on my tail. Finally got tired of the crap so after about 25 miles of this I slow down to about 50 MPH in a straight level stretch of highway and FINALLY, she passes. Just gets my goat.

I wasn't pulling a trailer but it was almost the same for me this morning. I had just turned off on the highway coming home and a Freightliner pulling a flatbed got on my bumper. This road is hilly and curvey with no place to pass. It's double yellow for 11 miles and a low weight road so this guy probably wasn't supposed to be here anyway. I was going the speed limit and he was tailgating so I slowed down 5mph. He got the message and backed off so I sped back up.

What I hate is I'll be cruising along at speed limit and some jerk pulls out in front of me and then chug-a-booms ten to fifteen mph under the speed limit.

That was not a smart thing to do. You show that pistol you best be ready to pull the trigger. Just because somebody blowing a horn at you and i am sure you were doing the speed limit just slow down let the fool pass it aint worth getting shot over.

When I am driving semi or gooseneck I just ignore them. If they hit me, they will get 99% of the damage. When I am driving the pickup or car I pull over if I have to and get them to pass. That being said, it really gets my goat when people drive 5 to 10 mph under the speed limit and you can't pass. They need to respect other peoples time even if they are in no hurry themselves. Another thing that annoys me is a farmer driving 18 mph down a very busy highway posted at 60 mph. I had this happen the other day. He drove about 6 miles with 10 semis and 20 cars creeping along behind him. It was a JD 4020 and grain drill. Several people took their lives into their own hands passing. He went past about 20 roads and approaches where he could have pulled over and let traffic clear. He came from a road on the right and eventually turned right. There is a parallel gravel road that would have been just a fast for him. I drive tractors on highways fairly often but I watch the traffic and pull over if I am holding people up. At some places of work you can get fired if you are late three times in a year. Everyone just needs to be considerate of others and all will be well.

You can follow me two feet off of my bumper I do not care, you will get the ticket not me. I passed a straight truck this morning that was running 45mph,as soon as I passed he sped up to 60mph that I was driving. He followed me for 15 miles and I never looked back.

lenray, I actually had that happen once I was on a 5 lane stretch of road with very little traffic. A lady was tailgating me. So I slowed down and eventually came to a stop. She followed me to shoulder. I stayed there till she finally pulled around and passed. All I can say is SHEEPEL!

or then turns into a driveway 200 yds down the road.....like they couldn't wait 2 seconds for me to get past them....

Passed a slow car one night with my loaded truck and trailer...then it sped up and kept on my bumper, bright lights and all. I slowed down, they slow down, I speed up, they speed up. Finally I stopped and they had to go around me. I think they were using me as a deer shield....

(quoted from post at 20:24:36 05/09/16) Few years ago I was being tail gated by a dump truck in a hurry, He even laid on the air horn. I eased my revolver up over the seat in the truck and he dropped back about 100 yards. Ellis

You could easily have been shot, and you would have been in the wrong. It is people like you that give all gun owners a bad name and it will be people like you who could eventually be responsible for our firearm laws getting even more repressive. If you have a CCW it needs to be taken away.

Several years ago on I 75 near Chattanooga a well decorated female truck driver with a full load of polished granite hung on my bumper for miles. I was doing 70 and she would not pass. Finally I slowed down to 55 and she almost took my bumper off in swerving to left making several other cars brake violently. As she drew abreast I got my cell phone out and pretended to call the HP. She slowed down, got back in line and never came close to a car as far as I went .ANOTHER 25 Miles0

Your action is known as "brandishing" these days, and where I live, that is a felony. You're lucky that the guy didn't get your number and turn you in.
