My wife and I have been looking for a travel trailer for the last couple of months. We finally bought this one today, used a handful of times, a bit fancier than we were wanting, but a good deal. We have had a slide-in camper since 1998, but I wanted something to just hook up to and head out for a weekend or whatever....heck I might just camp in the back yard! We discontinued our produce operations this year, my wife is back in the lab 4 days a week w/ bennies...hopefully slow down a little and enjoy life's pleasures a little more this summer! It's gonna be a light load for the old Dodge....weighs just 800# more than my equipment trailer does empty!

enjoy it, wife and I had a camper for a long time just sold it this spring ,after she passed on it just wasn't the same, go while you can.

I have owned two campers. I have not used either one more than 3-4 times, total. The first was bought when my first wife and I thought we would travel out west. That never happened due to her health problems. The last one I thought I would use with the Grand Kids. Well I soon found out I HATE camping. I have spend a good part of my life paying for a nice home to live in. Why do I want to camp in a small BOX substitute of that nice home???? Then most camp grounds have you parking twenty feet away from another camper. I am used to having more "room" than that. LOL I am not a social person so living even a few nights/days that close in more than enough for me.

I am glad you are able to cut back on the hard work that raising produce is. Enjoy your time with your wife. How much time we have is beyond our control.

Have owned a couple myself and not spent ONE night sleeping in them, and like yourself i want space from others. she wanted them, after a couple years not being used I sent it down the road,
a few years latter bought some land and another camper, planned on a little vaction spot it never happened sold camper and land.

That is why my wife and camp in state / provincal parks, you have a good area to youself. Army Corp Of Engineirs are also good, conservation areas are a last choice because many of them are going to seasonal sites with many of the best sites taken .In our eyes, private camp grounds are like living in a small town, with many sites that are seasonal and that makes you feel like an outsider, invading "their camp ground ".

In-laws lived in Texas, family in Minnesota and New York, and we live in Indiana means a lot of traveling to get together. We traveled with the in-laws in their trailer and Suburban several years. When his knees got so bad he could not make the hook-ups, we found a used 34' motor home. Previous owner had 2 weeks to be sold out and move to another country for a job so we got a real bargain. Last year, we sold that and bought a newer Motorhome. First trip was to northern Minnesota, back across Michigan and home. 2 weeks later, we were headed to a tractor show in eastern Ohio.

We especially like having a restroom close, eating a nourishing meal with our privacy, a place to rest if I get tired driving, and not living out of the trunk when traveling. (NO BEDBUGS!!)

I am kinda like JD.

We bought a used 5th wheel camper.

We headed for Mt Rushmore. Pulled in to a camp ground in an empty area and within an hour had a camper 20 foot from us on either side. Spent 3 days there and headed home.

On the way home my wife asked why did we buy a camper to leave our nice home in the country to park next door to 2 other campers. I agreed. We decided if we are going to be in a crowd we might as well get hotel rooms.

No set up time required.

We sold the camper that fall and now stay in hotels and enjoy that better.

Camper costs with the extra gas and all will pay for a lot of nights in a hotel.

We don't enjoy commercial campgrounds either...we do a lot of boondocking in the national forests and deserts out here. I will throw the generator in the back of the truck for any extra power we need. Fortunately there are millions of camping acres out here in the west...

It is a case of "to each his own".We have been doing it since 1964(except late 70s-early 90s)and maybe close to 200,000 mi.or better, 98% or better has not been in crowded campgrounds or areas.Yes a camper cost money, but we have had some 5-10,000 mi.trips and never spent $100.00 total on stays, plus you had your own bed and food and privacy. This India hotel thing is making a camper look better every day.Plus it is great for 4H and other like things, some tractor and farm shows, might only be a few other campers.I truly respect anyone who doesn't like a camper, but that is what makes it nice for every one to enjoy our lives as we please.
