How much to charge for bushhogging

Have no clue how much to charge for bushhogging--using 75 hp case international with 8 ft bushhog--in south central MS --assuming open land, normal groth-- not a lot of edging trimming to slow u down...can someone give me some idea of what I should charge? Thanks

More than likely, pricing will vary geographically. Friend has a 7420, with a JD 8' or slightly larger rotary mower of the same age. Bought new I believe, 2 spindle as well if I recall. Another friend with one of these had some hard to believe shaft failure with a similar size tractor on it. The 7420 and the above mower, was $75+/hr. Think he had a minimum charge or something too. Seemed to be a productive arrangement recalling a field done with it near another friends place. Locally, there's a few others advertising this work, lower rates, but smaller equipment. Unless I knew the fields, I'd likely avoid doing this for hire, sometimes it is not worth the risk. Well to me anyways, it is a smart move to check the job out first, price accordingly.

75hp & 8' mower would start at $50 hr and go up depending on how rough the field is . If it is for a little old widow woman and you breeze through it , you can always knock off some of the price when it is time to pay , assuming there were no problems .

Hitting a stump or large rock can eat a days wages . This year I sprayed glyposate far around all of the tips of boulders that stick up but are too big to be removed .

I guess it depends what part of the country you are mowing in. I don't mow by the hour. Everyone wants to know how much it is going to cost up front. Some even want a price over the phone. That ain't going to happen. I usually make out way better by giving a price up front. You should be charging around 90.00, and up for your 8 ft mower. Take, insurance, license to mow in each town. If you need a license. break downs from hitting something in that field that is said to be clean. Fuel for the tractor, and your truck. Then when you are done you can give uncle sam 35 %. When people ask me what I charge if they want a price, I tell them, 110.00 an hour. with my 7 1/2 flail mower and my JD 401 Industrial. Stan

$75 an hour with this rig...8' Bush Hog and 65 pto hp tractor....may be too cheap, but out here the scenery, being your own boss, and being able to make some $$$$$ driving a tractor all day makes life good!

Don't worry the neighbor or some one who wants to play with his tractor will do it for about $25!!!

Charge enough they get mad at you and tell you to go to. Then you don't have to worry about busting up your equipment. (chuckle)

Seriously, I would walk the field and eyeball it closely before naming a price. (or deciding to pass on the job) I would think the prices mentioned below would be good indicators.

Asking for someone else -- now he says has good many bushes/trees 1 to 1-1/2 inch in diameter...sounds like even high rate per hr might not pay off....he's a welder and a fix anything person but probably be a place I'd stay away from..
