Turn signal 91 Ford truck

I have a turn signal lever that won't stay in the "ON" position unless I hold it. It stays in the right turn position as it should. Any ideas of a fix? Easy and cheap or hard and costly?

Thanks, Ron

Disconnect the negative battery cable, pull the steering wheel, depending on which wheel you have there will be screws on the dashboard side of the wheel that hold the padded center in place that has to come off. Then grab your big socket set and remove the center nut holding the wheel, you will probably need a puller tool to remove the wheel from the shaft, do yourself a favor and mark the position of the wheel before removing it. If I remember right, you can see the white(ish) plastic parts that hold the turn signal left or right at this point, just move the lever and watch. What happens is part of the plastic parts that contact the steering shaft get broken off and won't hold the lever in place. I do not know if new parts are available or a trip to the used yard is required.
