Amen . Was wondering on the show highway through hell wasn't some of there episodes shot there? I bet there wishing for some snow now.
 
My wife has a farm wife friend in Iowa. Her friend there said they can smell the smoke. Anyone else around there notice smoke smell or haze?

We've got smoke here in western Iowa . I just read a special statement from the weather service saying that this smoke is from fires in northern Minnesota.
 
The Alberta part of the show is shot on the two highways that run south of Fort Mac. Unbelievable fire, will probably cover 2000 Sq. km by tonight. Whole town of 88,000 had to evacuated. 1800 houses and buildings burned to date.
 
The smoke was so thick this morning around 7:00am in Stratford Iowa(central Iowa). I couldn't see town from 2.5 miles away.
 
I think we're catching some of it here in mid Michigan. The wind's picking up out of the northwest and it's getting hazier all the time. We're pretty close to the yellow on that map anyway and it's no doubt slightly old.

We are about 250 miles as the crow flies southeast of Fort Mac.
Thursday the smoke was very heavy with the wind from the north.
Today just a very light haze.
Spoke to a friend an hour north of us on Friday and he was getting light ash falling in his yard.
 
Right now, in eastern Nebraska, we have visibility of no more than a mile on what otherwise would be a CAVU (clear) day.

We heard there's a north wind in Minnesota that's shunting the smoke down here.
 
Shoulda added, the Blue Angels were doing an air show in Lincoln today and lack of visibility from the smoke raised heck with the show.
