White 2-155 color scheme

I have two White 2-155s. One is a series 1 Sn 278-330-414 and the other is at the tail end of series 2 Sn 291-759-414.
I will be repainting them soon. What I noticed though is that the side panels of the older one are gray with silver stripes and the numbers are black with a white border. Meanwhile the newer one seems reversed that is gray stripes on a silver background and the numbers are white with a black border. They are of course weathered but the difference is still evident.
The paint looks original so did White change the color scheme along the way? I plan on having them both painted the both the same regardless.
I have seen the pictures with the silver stripes on gray posted here (very nice) but I am curious what the gray stripes on silver looks like when new or redone.
I want to choose the nicest color. Right now I am leaning to the silver stripes on gray.
I am asking for insights and opinions please.

The hood and roof top of the old one are too rust covered to tell the original color. Would they have been charcoal or silver?

The top of the hood and the roof were Argent Silver. This one is a Series 3 red stripe after serial number 300-xxx. Yours would be the same color on the roof and hood.

Your 278- serial number should be a 1977. The 291- should be a 79. I believe they would both look like the one in the picture.
I attached a picture of my original paint 2-105 too. That one's a 79. It'll give you an idea of what a 79 should look like if it's decent.

Maybe somebody else will know about the gray decals on silver sides, but I can't seem to recall it. I believe this is one of the first brochures for an 85 and 105. The brochure showed them with headlights in the grill, but they didn't come out that way at first. You can see, this one has gray sides with silver stripe decals, same as my 79.
Do both of yours have the headlights in the grill?

Do you know how to decode the numbers on those brochures? I can't find a date on that one but there are other numbers. From the way it's written,it makes it sound like it's the introduction of them. I got it in some stuff that a neighbor gave me after his auction. There were a few manuals and a 1972 Full Line Catalog among the stuff.

Is that your 2-155 in the picture with all the MM front weights? I have a G-1000 that they would look good on. Hope things are going good for you. We started planting on Tuesday up here.

No,that tractor's actually coming up on an auction up your way in June. Check Sykora's auction site. There's that one,a nice 2-110 and a super nice 2-70 FWA.
