OT/Dragged a lot of things home on this old truck

Tomorrow we are going to put this slightly larger milk tank , off the truck and into the milk room. These things are kind of heavy, and awkward to move, but the time has come. Old tank is going to run over, always some thing.

There's lots of good years left in the old Ford. Those were some of the best years. When I drove buses I had several that body style. Loved that 370 engine. Newest Ford truck I have now is the '74 F600 I haul grain with. I sure wish I had one of those 370's for it. The 330 is a little anemic.
 
Sure is something all the time, soon I need a bigger tank also, plus need to find room for all the young stock I have and have so many heifers freshening that I need shelter for all the cows for the winter, would like to get a small freestall barn put up. Last couple winters half the cows were in the barn and half in a bedding pack shed.
 
I only had one bus with that blessed 429. It was a stump pulling son of a gun, but holy cow that thing was a pain. It never started good and the manifolds ran so hot that you could plan on new ones every few years and a head or two pulled to drill out the twisted off studs. I can't recall what those manifold cost but I remember nearly crying every time one would crack. That thing was a deal. It did run pretty good once I stripped away all of the emissions stuff, but I wasn't too impressed otherwise. It was the only 71 passenger bus I ever had that in the bitter winter you only had to run one heater fan of the rear pair (for the whole bus) and everyone was still boiling out. I could load up every seat and the torque would still sit you back in the chair, too. The one thing Ford new how to do right (in my opinion) was their medium duty line from the early 60's to the mid 90's. I never had a bus newer than 1995 so I'm not sure about the last "overhaul" and what came of those. Those Fords took me many miles.
 
We had 2 Ford L800 box trucks with the 429 and they did not hold up . We also had about 8 L series tractors with the 370V4 engine very short lived motors . Our shop put in adaptor bell housing and retro fit them with Chevy 427s which held up better and more miles between overhauls.
 
Jeff just went on every day pickup again after about 3 months on being down on production for one reason or another (including viral pneumonia going through the herd). He's still down about 250 lbs a day from what he should be, but that's farming.
 
Hi, I like the Chev 427 very much too.I took an old school bus on trade with that motor. It started so good you never heard it turn over. Turn key and engine running instantly. Beautiful engine. Lots of power....it liked to eat though. Ed Will Oliver BC
 
Sorry to but in here with this, Don't know where else to go with it. Is anyone here interested in some 100+ year old magazines that are milk/cream/produce related? I think they range from 1905 to 1915? Front of most has a De Lavel cream separator ad on it. Most are in good shape. I spoke to a couple of young people at De Lavel they did not seem to be too interested, I spoke to a few DeLavel collectors, they mentioned a place in Wis that might be interested but could not come up with a name or address. Thanks
