More tractors in the future but for the next few days I'll put up the other power equipment. Neat iron in the silent auction area.

A guy at a show had several Maytag engines mounted on boards, and anyone (like my dad) who said something about how hard they were to start back in the day was invited to give one a try. Of course he had them all tuned up, so they started on the first kick. He then told dad "This will probably be your last contact with an old Maytag, so I wanted it to be a good one."

He said the problem back then was that most women and children didn't know a thing about engines, so didn't know how to keep them in good shape. And since Dad didn't do laundry, it wasn't his problem.

Old man Unger had a whole shop ran with leather belts and a one lunger. Was neat a little worrisome with all those belts running above your head.

There used to be a blacksmith shop in my hometown that way, only they did have a large electric motor.

But, drills, a power hammer, and all sorts of equipment were run by belts off of one main shaft.

Three old German brothers who became an institution in town. Once while one was fitting something together, I overheard him say to himself, "Ja, ja, Herr Vogel. Das arbite nichts".

"Yes, yes, Mr. Vogel, that doesn't work".
