Nice Weather-Busy Day

I had plenty of help today to finish up the 2015 flax harvest. Up to six family members and a dog at times were in the field. Couple of truckers (or wagoneers) on duty and a brother on the flax straw rake while I was combining flax swaths. I find with flax I spend about as much time dealing with the straw as I do harvesting it. Poor looking sample after spending the winter in the swath but at least it is done and I can get on with other work. The old 730 Case came out of semi retirement to run the ten inch auger today as the 2090 was needed on wagon (grain cart) work.

Do you just burn the flax straw or bale it? Everybody use to bale the straw and it went in huge stacks to be processed for Archer/Midland company back in the 60s-70s.

Good thing the driver of the 2090 has his door open, LOL.
Actually that is one thing I disapprove of. Hate to get dust in the cabs but sometimes it is unavoidable.
Yes, the straw will be burned. No market for it and you can't drag an implement through it without plugging up.
