When I take a radiator to a radiator shop for repair, it always comes back nicely painted black. Is this black paint anything special?

It's Black code 101-05 with special adhesive 98 so it will stick on brass and copper. You may not get good results if you use it on steel or wood, and may stick on skin if allowed to dry. If used on glasses, it may cause significant darkening or even blindness. It has also been suspected of causing cancer in rats in Callyfornica. Other than that, no big deal......

black paint has a purpose, if you return it claiming that it still leaks they can tell if you damaged it while installing it.

They suspect skate boards cause cancer in Ca. but they can't keep a rat on one long enough to prove it! As for radiator paint it allows heat to escape where enamel paints don't allow heat to transfer as well.

Hear say, a radiator man told me (because I told him not to paint it I would paint it with something that would not come off and get that chit he painted on it all over me) :D That the paint he used was because his vat would dissolve it EZ and made his life better...

I understood and dealt with his paint job from then on...

"As for radiator paint it allows heat to escape where enamel paints don't allow heat to transfer as well. "

NOT that I am calling you a liar, but can you post ONE scrap of reliable information to back that up?

We did that experiment in Physics class. Painted each side of cube with different colors or special paints to measure heat transfer. Applied heat under the cube and turned the different sides to a thermometer to determine the level of heat transfer. Black was the winner.

I chuckle at the people that live here in the desert that buy black vehicles. They should have taken a college physics course before they chose black as the color for their vehicle. The A/C has to work harder to cool those black vehicles. The dealers seem to be selling as many black vehicles as white vehicles - - now that could be contributing to global warming!
