I have a terex mini excavator we use around the farm and hire out occasionally for extra cash. Been a great unit. Lately it started acting funny in the pilot controls. Everything else works great but the pilot controls come and go once in a while. The next problem is finding any one that knows them. Been calling around and striking out in any help diagnosing. Even having a hard time purchasing a repair manual. If any one knows of a strong dealer or shop for Terex let me know. Need some advice and possibly parts. Thanks in advance.

If no one else chimes in, email me. I have a buddy that used to work for a very strong Terex dealer. They did more with skid
steer, but he still has the manuals.

Come and go? As in don't work at all or
function erratic like sticking or
delayed? If not at all work then start
looking electrical, there is a solenoid
valve that allows flow to the pilot
circuit when energized, usually by a
dash switch and both armrests or safety
bars being down and occasionally a seat
switch depending on the machine

Erratic. It has to be run at full throttle to move a function at all. After it runs a bit you can slow it down some and it will work. Seems like me it is something with hydraulic pilot pressure for pilot controls.

Have you taken the return line off check for flow? Also bubbles like low oil or a pump suction leak can cause this, also when did you last clean the pilot filter, some are just a fine screen and some are an actual filter you replace

Yes I have no experience with that particular excavator but in general that's the things to check on a hydraulic pilot system.

sorry to res a dead thread.
Most likely years too late I got one of these HR-16's as unfortunately my first machine and no way to get a manual that's not a fake scam. Yanmar now owns this excavator model and offers no support.
IF anyone out there has this service manual plz dm me I'm rebuilding this thing and have a parts manual but no shop manual I found a place to buy cylinder seal kits for all the cylinders also.
