It's between 1949 and 1953. Also some 1948s may look like this.

I have a 1949 3600 (means 3/4 ton) with a grill just like the one in your picture.

Engine would be a 216 cu. inch overhead valve 6 cylinder, with poured babbitt rod and main bearings.

Would it have the 235 engine if it was heavier than
A one ton? Looks like it might be bigger than a pickup style. Ben

Looks like a 4100 or bigger, the space between the hood and curved part of the front fender is wider on bigger trucks than the pickups to allow coverage for the larger wheels/tires. Could be a late 47 all the way up to a 53. Does it have wing windows? 47-early 49 did not. Look on Stovebolt.com. More old Chevy and GMC trucks than you could imagine.

This body style started in 47 and went thru First Series 55. Some 47s were the old body style and some 55s were the newer body style

That grill style ended in '53. The 54's and early 55's were slightly different.
Go over to Stovebolt .com and do some reading in the forums over there. You will find plenty of info on how to ID what engine you have, and where to find the numbers on the block, etc.

I think the 235 didn't come out until '53 or so (someone will know)- As far as I know, 216 was all that was available before that.

I think that model is too young for me.

And that's all I have to say about that! :)

Not sure about the trucks, my 49 did have the 216. The 235 engine was out in the cars at that time but only the cars with automatic, stick shift was 216.

they started that cab style in 1947 I had 1 ton 47 chev like that.It was 51 or 52 they came out with the vent windows.

The owners manual for 1949 only list the 216 for all trucks up to and including the school bus chassis.

My brother bought a brand new 1 1/2 ton in 1947. Looked just like that one. The standard color was that dark green, if you got any other color it cost $65 dollars more. Note the turn signal on the fender. Trucks had to have them, pickup didn't. My Dad bought a 48 3/4 ton new, red with a chrome grill, 4 in the floor with split rims on the wheels. That body style went from 47 to mid year 55. They changed the grill a little along the way. They had an early series 55 and a late 55. I have a late 55 2 ton 6500 series. Late series 55 2 tons had an optional V8, 2 speed axle, roller bearings in the front wheels and an electric windshield wiper. Up through 1 1/2 ton had ball bearings in the front wheels and 6 cylinder engines with vacium WW wipers. That one looks like a 47,48, maybe 49 1 1/2 ton.

Thanks for the info and story i always wish I could back in time and see all my equipment when it was new on the dealers lot

So can anybody tell me about the engine I need a valve cover and I also need the valve lash specs . I haven't been able to find a valve cover that has the two bolts holiding it on instead of little bolts around the outside edge
