Hello all---I'm going to be installing some perkins dry sleeves this week, using dry ice. did this in the past, [freezer] but can't remember what the ''soak'' time is on dry ice. I read in archives about making wooden plugs to hold the dry ice til your done---like that idea. so 1-hr-3-6-etc?? as always, thanks to you folks

There's a world of difference between a freezer and dry ice. If you get that well enclosed in the dry ice I would think minutes. I looked in my old CRC book and it is showing around -70 ℉.

I helped put sleeves in a 3208 using liquid nitrogen. That was seconds. That stuff is 77 kelvin or -321 ℉.

In the past I have put repair sleeves in by heating the block with a torpedo heater and chilling the sleeve with liquid propane. Go quickly but they slid right in. Hang on and don't let it bounce. Repair sleeves are generally one cylinder at a time. If your working in chassis this would't work so good.
