found an ad for a well used 20 ft 14k Titan, $4500
New PJ, 20ft 14k, under $4,000
Both bumper pull with deck between the fenders.

Some of these dealers must be able to write off unsellable inventory or something.

At the moment, wholesale steel prices are down a whole bunch from what they were a couple years ago. New inventory may indeed be cheaper than what trailers used to be.

Love my 20' PJ. Just need to make a ramp for narrow fronts. I'm using an old trailer ramp and this time.

I have a bumper 2012 PJ 14,000 lb. 24 FT. low profile deck over with the 3 stand up ramps. I looked at a lot of used trailers and if they were in good they wanted almost as much as a new one. The trailer basic price was $4,600.00 and with options it cost me $5,600.00 cash in mid 2012.

I bought a new trailer last fall. It is a Custom Built Gooseneck Trailer out of Sulfur Springs TX. It has a gooseneck, 20 foot deck, five foot beavertail, triple ramps, tandem duals with electric over hydraulic brakes. Cost me $9500

It replaced a PJ trailer - the last one will ever own. The paint fell off it. Err, the powder coating fell off it. One of three trailers I know of that had this happen. One guy I know had PJ offer him a couple rattle cans of paint to cover warranty. I know of another PJ trailer with hydraulic tilt that had the piece of square tubing that held the cylinder on bend. They told him he overloaded it, but I know for a fact he didn't. PJ doesn't care to honor their warranty.

I think it's common knowledge that used trailers in any kind of shape are priced so close to new, they aren't worth the bother.

In this case new is cheaper.

I bought a new car hauler last fall after doing a lot of shopping around and finding that the new price was at most $400 or $500 higher than someone else's used junk. I've already long forgotten the slight difference in price, but I remember that I have a new, reliable trailer in the shed, DOT approved in all 50 states.

Yeah it can be ridiculous what asking prices are for used trailer compared to new. I watched for a good used trailer around here for months, at a decent price and found very little. It was either overpriced or needed new lights, tires, and deck at the least, or both! I finally just ordered a new Hull trailer; custom ordered exactly what I wanted. They must be doing it right with their low prices...14wk lead time for mine!

My last two trailers were new. Like you said over priced junk. Buy an old trailer.
Then new tires, brakes, wheelbearings, replace the deck and then have more money in it than a new trailer.

Yea I think what happens is so many people think that if they buy new it will be very expensive so they wind up overpaying for a used one.

I buy a new 22' PJ bumper pull every 5 years after they are depreciated out, but still look nice. The last one I bought in WI for $1800 less than they wanted for one out here....just planned a trip around picking it up. It costs me around $1500 every 5 years to trade up, so I pay $300 a year for my trailer and put about 8000 miles on per year....plus I depreciate it out for tax purposes.

Same spec Corn Pro sold at auction last weekend for about $8,000. Was as clean as a new one.
