Thought for the day

That's like my daughters Siberian Husky if she gets loose ! Ears pinned back crazy look and all !

I sure can remember that feeling. Nothing like six in the morning and you hear the dreaded call "THE COWS are out". Running around in the soaking wet grass with your slippers on. Squish!!

That possibility got me out of early morning jury duty one time. The judge had milked cows in his younger days. I said "You know full well that'll be the morning that about ten minutes before the alarm is supposed to go off,I'll hear a thundering noise going across the yard and the cows will be out.". He told me I was excused.

I had one feeder that got outside of the fence no less than four times this past year. She had the escapist attitude right up to the final chute. Mr. Winchester released that free spirit from her noggin' for good, and I enjoyed being there to see it happen.

Not a cow, but we had a teaser pony, he would go out in the paddock over night, some how he pushed the mesh wire fence off the post and would let himself out, we would get to the farm the next morning and the feed bags would be knocked off the stall doors, so we knew he got loose and came in the barn to see his girls. Funny part is the little sucker would let himself back into the pasture as if nothing happened. He was something.

Onefarmer,
Thanks for the thought and picture. It's a great one! Pardon the repeat, but my wife and I still get a chuckle over a post several days ago regarding the English language's two most soul-chilling declarations: "The cows are out" and "Honey, we need to talk."

I once couldn't get my son out of bed when we was needing to go somewhere. Finally I calmly said cows are out. He woke up instantly and made record time getting dressed and out the door. He said while on the porch realizing what happened "That was a dirty trick"

One guy I worked with told me his pigs got out Sunday morning he said the guy upstairs must not have wanted him in church that day

I remember waking up at 5am and hearing rustling and munching sounds outside my window. LOL nothing like seeing the house surounded by 50 black and white cows.
